One of the highest continuously-inhabited settlements in the world, UNESCO-listed Ushguli is quite the sight on any day- even more so as the last stop of the four-day Svaneti hike that starts in Mestia and packs a punch with every sunset. Ushguli is perhaps most noted for its characteristic defense towers (some dating back to the 8th century), but this snowy little snapshot celebrates my survival of the final hiking day, when a freak snowstorm swooped in out of nowhere and almost led to a premature posthumous art fame. The next morning, with sunshine, it was quite the magical winter wonderland sight to see!
