For a soul who loves the sea more than anything, settling down in the heart of Val d’Orcia might be a perplexing move. However, I have found some similarities: a similar sense of space that stretches on into the horizon and hills that mimic the rhythm of the sea. Especially in late spring, when all is vibrant green and knee-high, constant swaying of the grasses both sounds and looks mighty similar to the sea– just, y’know, more grounded. In the peak of summer, the wheat fields are burnt ochre, with the designs of tractor trails weaving through them.
