From Pisa, there is a train to Pontedera, from which parts a bus that reaches Palaia. Beyond this sleepy town, a couple of hours of walking into the lesser-known Tuscan Hills, was my first sommelier gig that started my chapter in Italy in 2022. I cannot say that I have lived in any place much more accessible since then (and the obscure addresses have not been few), but also not any less visually-pleasing… especially during these sunrise pastel hues that quickly transform into saturated patchworks of natural grandeur.
